Private house in the foothills of mount Pelion
Location: Anakasia, Pelion, Greece
Project year: 1995-1999
The main particularity of the residence from the synthetic opinion is connected mainly with its geometry, its integration in the environment and with its diachronic presence. The carved walls and stonemasonries embrace the formal conventional rectangular department of the building. The enchanting however gesture of mapping out of the free lines, is often compelled either to follow wiser constructional streets, or to obey the rectangular habits of inhabitancy.
The stairs in the house and in the outside space are nominated as main and “provocative” elements of flow and circulation. The vertical communication acquires force and the rolling downwards or the tedious up going becomes an adventure.
The details with their particularity arouse the sense of touch. The light and the shades decorate the space and the aesthetic play is extended.
The central idea, the planning, the supervision and the construction of the building give the architect the baton of the director of an orchestra. It is obvious however, that an orchestra only with selected executants can have good results. The importance in each detail and its peculiar resolution presuppose available and creative collaborators. The recipe however is surely achieved when its collaboration with the householders is constructive and the work is a “creative game”…
